Looking For Co-Authors and Collaborators
My name is Christopher Tillman and I run the Haunted Toledo website. It is a growing collection of legends and folklore from around the northwest Ohio area.
My goal is to expand upon the information presented there and publish a series of books about the local legends of our area.
My idea, as it currently stands, involves writing a short, 35+ page book about each location/legend that mixes chilling eyewitness accounts with fascinating facts and background information that may or may not provide some proof to the legend.
These books would be published through a CreateSpace-like print on-demand service.
Of course, there are many legends I’d like to cover and not enough time to cover them all. I’m also not the best of writers. So, I could use some help.
I’m not looking for “ghost writers,” despite the subject matter 😉 This is a collaborative effort and you will receive co-author credit.
I need to find talented writers who can help me transform these tales into entertaining stories.
A general interest in the subjects of ghost stories, true crime, and local history is preferred, but not necessary.
All work will be contract-based. Book sales will be split 60-40, with 60% going to you, the co-author.
Contract-based benchmarks, such as meeting a deadline, will increase that percentage to 65%.
I would prefer someone who lives in Toledo so that I could show them around some of these locations in person.
I have no delusions about this book series earning a ton of money and this is really not my concern. My main goal is to dig deeper into these tales than anyone else ever has and to preserve them for future generations. Many legends in our area involve locations which no longer exist, have been demolished, or are in some way not as accessible as they once were. I just want to do my part to help preserve the stories that have kept me entertained all these years.
